Teaching Arabic as People Actually Speak It
Founded in 2006, Arabic Dialects became the first online platform dedicated entirely to Arabic dialects, long before dialect learning became a trend. Our mission has remained the same: to teach Arabic as a human language, not a doctrinal system.
Why Arabic Dialects Exists
Arabic is not one language — it is a constellation of living dialects shaped by history, geography, art, trade, and human experience. Yet for decades, Arabic education has focused almost exclusively on rigid textbook standards, ignoring how people actually speak.
Spoken language comes before formal grammar
Dialects are not 'corrupt Arabic' — they are languages alive
Language learning should be cultural, creative, and intellectually honest
Education must be secular, inclusive, and globally relevant

Karim Mokhtar
Karim Mokhtar is a well-known author, educator, and independent intellectual whose work spans linguistics, literature, education, and cultural research, with a career bridging North Africa and Silicon Valley..
Born in Carthage, Tunisia, he began writing at age 9 and was featured in Tunisian television programs as a child prodigy. His multilingual works include fiction, philosophy, linguistics, and educational methodology.
He has worked with several language program institutions in San Francisco and the Bay Area, including Berlitz International, ABC Languages, Rosetta Stone, and others, and contributed to the development of major language-learning platforms. He opened his first language school in the Bay Area, Skill Set Academy, in 2011, and his Arabic division, Arabic ABC, was featured on the local media as the best Arabic program in the city of Walnut Creek, California. His vision for Arabic Dialects was simple and radical: teach Arabic the way it is actually spoken — with respect, intelligence, and honesty.
"Language is not a doctrine. It is a human technology shaped by history, culture, and necessity."
